Early in the morning, you’ll set off by camel for a 20–30 minutes trek out onto the dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness the sunrise in the heart of the desert. After a truly stunning sunrise, freshen up and breakfast in your camp, then go on a 4wd excursion around Merzouga desert. Begin with a visit to the Gnawa tribe in a small village of Khamlia, enjoy the live Gnawa Music, traditionally practiced throughout Morocco and originating from the sub-Saharan regions.
Later on, set off for a breathtaking panoramic view of Erg Chebbi Dunes from the Galb Nass Mountains. From Here, you’ll also start to see your first glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic Berbers – travelling across the desert and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination. Stopping en route to share a cup of tea with some welcoming Berber families in their handwoven tent while enjoying the silence of the Sahara Desert.
Afterward, depart Merzouga and head towards the gorge of Todra on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Surrounded by towering vertical limestone cliffs reaching heights of 300 m to form one of the most dramatic and also spectacular natural sights in Morocco. Moreover, its charm lies in its changing colors as the sun slowly moves from east to west. There’ll be time to marvel at this sight before you continue your journey to the beautiful Dades Valley. This area offers up scenery like no other – sprawling green valleys give way to otherworldly rock formations carved out by the wind. After breakfast, drive a bit further to Tissadrine to get the great panoramic view of the Dades valley, and then the beautiful rocks’ formation called «Monkey fingers». Afterward, we head off along the road of The Rose Valley and a Thousand Kasbahs en route to Ouarzazate – the Hollywood of North Africa. Pass by the Rose valley in Kalaat M’gouna, where roses bloom in profusion in springtime. There will be the opportunity to stop to see the variety of rose products which are produced by the locals. Continue on to Hollywood of North Africa – Ouarzazate, known as the gate of the desert and also famous for being the filming location for many other Hollywood blockbusters and famous TV shows. On arrival, visit the Atlas Studio (Optional), it’s one of the largest studios in the world.
Thereafter, we hit the road again to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunningly well-preserved medieval village which has famously featured in many blockbuster movies, including Gladiator, The living daylights and many more.
