Early in the morning, you’ll set off by camel for a 20-30 minutes trek out onto the dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness the sunrise. After a truly stunning sunrise, freshen up and breakfast in your camp, then start to discover the small village of Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Begin with the khamlia village, a traditional house built of thick earthen bricks made from a mixture of clay and straw, then enjoy the live Gnawa Music which is played by the locals.
Later-on, set off for a breathtaking panoramic view of Erg Chebbi Dunes from the Galb Nass Mountains. From Here, you’ll also start to see your first glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic Berbers – travelling across the desert and often staying in make shift tents as they head to their next destination. Stopping en route to share tea with some welcoming local families in a Berber tent while enjoying the silence of the Sahara Desert.
After that, depart Merzouga and head towards the gorge of Todra on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Surrounded by towering vertical limestone cliffs reaching heights of 300 m to form one of the most dramatic and also spectacular natural sights in Morocco. Stop in the Rose valley in Kalaat M’gouna, where roses bloom in profusion in springtime. There will be the opportunity to stop to see the variety of rose products which are produced by the locals. Continue on to Hollywood of North Africa – Ouarzazate, known as the gate of the desert and also famous for being the filming location for many other Hollywood blockbusters and famous TV shows.
